Adult Sunday School Classes Winter/Spring 2010

Adult Christian Education (ACE) oversees several aspects of ministry at Westminster, including Adult Sunday School, Women’s Bible Studies, Men’s Small Groups, and the Smith Bible Study.

Adult Bible Class

Topic: The Exodus

Teacher:  Jim Parker

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 8

Description: In this lecture and discussion format class, we are studying the Old Testament book of Exodus. We will explore the children of Israel's journey from Egyptian bondage to the land of Canaan as a model for our Christian life and growth.  

Women’s Class

Topic: Philippians: A Women’s Study on Joyful Living

Teacher: Jan Powell

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 5

Description: Geared specifically for women, this class will explore the theme of joyful living through a Study of the Apostle Paul’s Epistle to the Philippians.

Men’s Class

Topic: Prayer

Facilitator: Rotating

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 7

Description: Geared specifically for men, this class will do a discussion-oriented study on prayer from the book Praying Backwards by Dr. Bryan Chapell.

Choir Class

Teacher: Tim Townsend                                   

Meeting Place: Choir Room

Description: This class will consist of a 30 minute Sunday School lesson followed by a 30 minute choir rehearsal.

Young Couples Class

Topic: The Book of Romans

Teacher: Tim Waddell

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 9

Description: This class for young couples enjoys a discussion-oriented lesson focused onpractical life application of biblical truth. This semester’s study will focus on Paul’s Epistle to the Romans.

Christian Life Class

Teacher: Mel Hope

Meeting Place: Education Wing, Room 6

Description: This class for those in their 40’s and up will consist of a time of fellowship and discussion-oriented topical devotions on the challenges and responsibilities of a Christian living in Atlanta, in 2010. 

City on a Hill Sunday Morning Bible Study

Topic: City on a Hill ministry vision and values

Teacher: Tim Kay

Meeting Place: Panera Bread at Loehmann’s Plaza

Description:  This class is open to young adults from college age on up. We meet for coffee and a light breakfast and a discussion-oriented lesson.

International Class

Hosts: Joel & Angie Mercer; Rev. Al & Elaine LaCour

Meeting Place: Library

Description: This class is designed for second-language students as well as those with little Bible background.

Inquirer’s Class

Teacher: Rev. Chuck Frost

This class is for those interested in learning more about the church or those who would like to join Westminster. This class is offered several times a year; dates are announced in the church bulletin.
