Women's Ministry

Purpose

The purpose of the Westminster Women’s Ministry is that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His Kingdom in her life, home, church, community, and throughout the world.

Theme Verse

Colossians 3:16 16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

Goals through May 2011:

Minister to women as women and encourage connections through intentional relationships.

Encourage spiritual growth of the women in our church with emphasis on Scripture and application of Scriptural principles to daily life.

Nurture the prayer lives of women in our church, praying for the life changing work of God in and through us.

Provide an opportunity for each woman to discern and exercise her gifts and abilities to the glory of God in the total work and worship of the church.

Purposefully equip the women of Westminster to serve as pillars of support to our church in its mission.

Women's Book Club

The Women’s Book Club meets once a month in small groups to discuss a variety of books including classic literary novels, contemporary literature, and Christian fiction. We aim to read through one book every month. ! It’s a great opportunity to expand your literary exposure, improve your vocabulary, and get to know other women. Please note that this is not intended to be a bible study, though we do touch on issues of faith and Christian life in our discussions.
The Book Club will continue to meet monthly on the third Tuesday of each month in Marietta at the home of Karen Kee. Upcoming selections include:

September 21st: "Pretend You Don't See Her" by Mary Higgins Clark - a suspense/ thriller

October 19th: "The Scotswoman" by Inglis Clark Fletcher - a historical novel set in North Carolina

November: "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis - Chronicles of Narnia

December: "Olive Kitteridge" by Elizabeth Stout - recent bestselling novel of short stories surrounding the life of a teacher in small town Maine
